One of the best methods for finding your limiting beliefs is through journaling. Journaling won’t change the things you’re thinking, but it will reveal them to you. I am not good enough to be with the type of person I want

I am not intelligent enough to be ass successful as I want

Other people are more worthy of success than I am

There are tons of limiting beliefs that are personal to each individual.

In the context of the area of your life, you want to change, write out your thoughts and desires. Write down how you feel about your ability to change, why you want to achieve your goals, and what you think is holding you back.

Try to dig deep into your psyche to find the root of your self-doubt. Reveal your inner truths to yourself so you can see your personal beliefs front and center. And be as truthful and thorough as you can.

Do a free writing exercise where you allow any thoughts and emotions come pouring out. Don’t limit yourself and write down everything that comes through your heart. Later, you can decipher what genuine beliefs and where you need to analyze more in-depth are.


Rate the Emotional Impact

When you have identified some of your inner thoughts and beliefs, you should become aware of how emotionally impactful it is to you.

Sometimes we have beliefs that we don’t live our lives by. Other times, we believe a thing so purely that it runs the way we do everything. For instance, if you do not think you’re worthy of a relationship, your actions, thoughts, and emotions will align with unworthiness, causing you to create a lack of healthy relationships in your life.

You’ll be able to figure out fairly quickly, which beliefs impact you on a deeper emotional level. When you think about them, you will feel strong emotions around them. You will feel sad, hopeless, angry, or any other fiery harmful passion. When you do, these are the beliefs you need to remove.

Re-Think the Usefulness and Truthfulness of the Belief

Putting your limiting belief into context is key to changing it, removing it, or forgetting about it. Sometimes, through continuous rumination on a thought, we build it up to be more impactful than it needs to be. Occasionally, we turn a feeling into something that isn’t true.

When you are analyzing your limiting beliefs, try to decipher which ones are rooted in genuine truth.

Which ones are part of a story you have been telling yourself for a long time that isn’t necessarily true anymore? Which ones are completely useless in helping you achieve the life you want.

Overcoming self-limiting beliefs is sometimes more straightforward than you think. Once you identify them, if you’re able to label specific ideas as entirely untrue, they no longer have any hold on you.

Also, if you recognize a common limiting belief, you could search on google to see if this is a common issue people have. Often, people share limiting beliefs. When you read another person’s account of what they believed and how they overcame it, it can sometimes be a lot easier for you to gain perspective in your own life.

Keeping a distant perspective can also be incredibly helpful. If you think of yourself as a small part of a massive universe, sometimes it is one of the best ways to find how to get rid of false beliefs.

Often we blow our problems up so much bigger than they need to be. Sometimes, we turn untrue thoughts into emotions and beliefs that, in the context of your entire life, don’t mean very much.

Try to remove yourself from the situation and analyze what you’re thinking and see how much it is going to impact your life over the long term. If holding onto this belief is going to affect your experience negatively, then let it go and replace it with a more helpful one.

Use positive self-talk and visualization to elicit the thought patterns you desire. The more you practice thinking on the plane of a successful and self-valued person, the easier it becomes, and the less often negative beliefs can penetrate your psyche.
