Manifesting for Children: How to Explain Manifestation to Your Kids
The other day, someone from our manifestation community reached out to me and asked: Mia, how can I explain manifestation to my child?
Explaining manifestation to kids should be done by using simple and, for your child, relatable examples. You should use terms they are already familiar with.
You could start by introducing the idea that our thoughts and feelings can influence the things that happen in our lives.
For example, if a child wants a new toy, you can explain that by thinking and talking about it, they are sending positive energy into the universe, which can attract the toy to them.
But let’s first look at what manifestation is, explained in simple words.

What is Manifestation (in Simple Words)
Manifestation is the process of bringing something into reality through positive thinking and actions. (And I would like to put the emphasis on the action part!)
It’s the idea that by focusing on a specific goal or desire and aligning your thoughts, vibrations, beliefs, and actions toward it, you can make it happen. Manifestation leverages a very powerful tool: your subconscious mind.
When you program your subconscious mind (with positive thoughts and actions) to the desired outcome, it will do everything to bring you there. The subconscious does that by acting like a filter, pointing out to you all the opportunities in front of you that will ultimately bring you to your end goal.
In simple words, it’s about making your dreams come true by actively working towards them and believing that they can happen.
That’s the short version; if you like a more in-depth explanation of what manifestation is, I suggest you read my manifestation guide here.
How Do You Explain the Law of Attraction to a Child
So, you see, manifestation is the process of bringing something into reality through positive thoughts and beliefs. This is also known as the Law of Attraction. It’s a powerful tool that can help you achieve your goals and create the life you want.
However, explaining this concept to a child can be challenging. Here’s a guide on how to explain manifestation to a child in a simple and easy-to-understand way.
Explain Manifestation to a Toddler / Preschooler
First, it’s important to understand that children are naturally optimistic and open to new ideas. They are also very imaginative, which makes them great at manifesting their desires.
So, when teaching them about manifestation, it’s important to tap into their sense of wonder and excitement.
One way to do this is to use fun and relatable examples that they can easily understand. For example, as I already mentioned above, you could use the example of a child who wants a new toy.
You could tell them that if they focus their thoughts and energy on that toy, they can manifest it into reality. But be careful with this. You don’t want to give your little boy or girl the impression that “believing” is enough.
I guess you also don’t want them to have a tantrum on your next visit to the toy store because they don’t get all the toys they wanted soooo much.
Explain to them that the key is to believe that they can have it and to be grateful for it as if they already have it. Then, encourage them to take action towards their goal, whether it’s saving money, doing chores to earn money, or even making a drawing or a painting of their desired toy as if it already exists.
You could also create a vision board together with your kids. It’s actually a great family activity and a lot of fun.
Use the Concept of Positive Affirmation for Older Kids
Another way to explain manifestation to a child is through the use of affirmations. But this is, in my opinion, more suitable for older kids, as affirmations are a bit more complicated to understand.
Affirmations are positive statements that we can say to ourselves to help us believe in our ability to manifest our desires.
They work directly on the subconscious; the more often you repeat to yourself that you will reach a certain goal, the better your subconscious understands that this is your goal (and that you are truly serious about).
Encourage your child to come up with their own affirmations and repeat them throughout the day. For example, if your son or daughter wants to be a good student, they could say something like, “I am smart and capable of understanding my lessons.”
Affirmations for kids are not just a great way for them to actively use the law of attraction, but they will also help them to become more confident in themselves.
A great way to teach your kids the concept of positive affirmations is by creating affirmation cards with them. Here your children can get creative and paint or draw pretty cards and write the affirmation on it.
They can read the cards every night before they go to bed or hang it on their wall. This is a playful way to use affirmations, not just for kids. Here is an example of an affirmation card from my vision board toolkit I sell in my shop.
Teach Your Kids the Power of Visualization
I also suggest that you teach your children the power of creative visualization. Encourage them to close their eyes and imagine themselves having or achieving their desired goal; this will help them to focus their thoughts and energy on what they want.
Visualization is such a powerful tool that it is even used in the training of Olympic athletes.
Teaching kids these principles at a young age can help them develop strong beliefs in their abilities and give them the tools they need to achieve their goals and desires.
Visualization is much easier to learn at a young age because of the children’s imagination ability.
As children, we all had much more imagination and could imagine things very vividly without limiting ourselves. As kids, we believed 100% that we could be anything we wanted, whether a princess or a pilot of a spaceship. Limiting beliefs is usually not an issue at a young age.
This fact should be used to teach children the concepts of manifestation and creative visualization at an early age. Because what children learn early on, they often keep as a habit for later.
Lead as a Good Example by Living a Positive Life & Manifest Your Big Dreams
Finally, it’s important to be a good example to your kids. Show them that manifestation is not only something they can do but also something adults do.
Here a few ideas on how you can do that:
- Make manifestation a topic your family talks about openly and often. Share your own experiences with them and talk about the times when you have used manifestation to manifest things in your life.
- Live a life full of gratitude. Show them how you are grateful for the things you have in life instead of complaining in front of them about things that don’t quite work the way you like.
- Teach them a “can do” attitude instead of planting limiting beliefs into their heads. Here, it’s important that you watch your language when you talk to them. Use more phrases like “you can…” instead of “you can’t…”
- Use different manifestation methods as a family. Using tools such as vision boards, affirmations cards, or a gratitude jar as a family is great for bonding and fun and helps you as a family to achieve more goals.
How Do You Manifest for Kids?
This brings me to the last point of this post. The question of whatever you can also manifest for your kids.
And yes, you can. I explain exactly how in my post on how to manifest for someone else.
But still, I much prefer that you teach manifestation to your kids as early in their life as possible.
Manifesting is using the power of positive thoughts and beliefs, combined with inspired action, to turn your dreams into reality.
By teaching children the basics of manifesting, you can help them develop a strong belief in their abilities, trust in their creativity, and develop the tools they need to achieve their goals and desires.
They will learn to focus their thoughts and energy on what they want, to be grateful for it as if they already have it, and to take action toward their goal. With this understanding, they will be able to create the life they want and live an overall happier and more positive life.
I hope my tips on how to explain manifestation to your kids will help you with this.
